Staniel Cay and the surrounding isles are a perfect setting for numerous activities - naturally, the clear, warm water is the main playground. You can enjoy a day filled with relaxation, excitement, or maybe a bit of both!
Few places on earth compare to the shallow, clear waters of the Exumas. Snorkel or scuba to explore this pristine undersea world and you’ll never forget its unmatched beauty. Discover the breathtaking Thunderball Grotto, a hollowed-out island where thousands of colorful fish will eat from your hand. The Exuma Land and Sea Park is also a “must-see”. When swimming the waters of this natural phenomenon, you truly do not know what wonders you’ll encounter. The park is alive with color and activity as fish of every kind swim before your eyes.
If you enjoy fishing, this is the place to be. Bonefish out at Harvey Cay or in Pipe Creek, both just a few minutes away. For deep-sea fishing, the expansive water of the Exuma Sound is full of grouper, snapper, mahi, tuna and more! Or just paddle the warm, crystal clear waters in your own ocean kayak. Explore hidden cays, exposed sand bars, and pristine beaches – your journey will be as incredible as your destination!
All guests also have access to 13-foot Boston Whalers to see the local sights. Visit the famous “swimming pigs” at Big Major Cay, or nearby nurse sharks and wild iguanas. Within minutes you can cruise to a secluded island where the only footprints are your own. The beaches on Staniel Cay are absolutely beautiful, but for some, the dozens of untouched beaches on the many cays surrounding Staniel are an even bigger attraction.
Travel the island itself on foot, bike, or golf cart. The local Bahamians in the nearby village are eager to share their culture and their stories with you. Shop keepers, boat builders, fishermen and others will gladly tell you of their history and traditions. Staniel Cay is often referred to as “the friendliest little island in the Bahamas.”
Stainel Cay is home to Rolly Gray (AKA, The “Grand Master”). He won the first ever national family island regatta and then watched two years ago as his boat, “Tida Wave”, won it again on its 50th anniversary in Georgetown Harbour. Staniel Cay is known for its sailing prowess and consistently wins championships despite having less than 100 full time residents.
Staniel Cay is family and child friendly. Although it does not cater to this market. All the aforementioned water activities are child-friendly an other attractions offered like the "swimming pigs" at Big Major Cay, tame nurse sharks, and wild iguanas are things that kids love to see.
Honeymooners adore our property; however, they do not cater to the wedding market. That being said, very small weddings are possible, but all planning and procurement would need to be done by the wedding participants themselves.
