50th Birthday
Honestly, when Doug told me he wanted to go someplace new for my birthday, I thought he was talking about a restaurant. He let me believe it, too.
Wise guy. While I was tapping into my crème brûlée he told me the “new” place he was referring to was The Exumas – fabulous little islands in the Bahamas. He was planning to sail there on our longest trip together so far. I was so excited I lost all interest in dessert.
We made port last night, and oh my. It’s so vibrant here. So exciting and beautiful.
By the time you get to your 50th birthday, you think you’ve seen it all. But it’s not true. These eyes opened up and saw a new world today. When I woke up this morning, I didn’t even know what a grotto was. But that was 14 hours and 1000 shades of blue ago. Now I know exactly what it is - it’s the best place in the world to spend your 50th birthday. Thank you, darling.
