Far Away
In my suitcase, along side sandals and a one-piece, I packed my job. That is, the stress of my job, anyway.
I didn’t mean to. But it tends to stow away wherever I go. It’s always there. Whispering in my ear. My friends say I need to get out of the office. In reality, I need to get the office out of me. With a little help from a hammock and couple of coconut trees, I got started today.
The island air flowed through me, taking with it every last thought of deadlines, budgets, and executive meetings. After just a taste, I’m committed to mastering the art of leisure. Tomorrow’s agenda includes finding shapes in the clouds and counting shades of pink in the sunset.
My senses are being challenged and expanded. I’m starting to feel so peaceful, and stress is beginning to seem as far away as the city I left. On my first night here, I dreamed about work. When I go back to work I hope I’ll dream of the islands.
