The Cure
I am not a poetic man. I am not prone to sudden fits of romanticism.
But something has welled up inside me here. Yes, this place I didn’t even want to visit has changed me! Wendy deserves a medal for dragging me down here. Four days ago, I was mixing up a tonic of aspirin and antacid. But that’s no antidote for stress. The cure is here on Eleuthera, looking out on the Glass Window where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean with striking contrasts of deep blue and teal green.
Life in the islands crashes against my stress like breakers on the rock below – wearing it down. Remaking it. I needed this so much more than I knew. And Wendy needed me to be more than an overworked executive.
The sun is setting now, and when the sun peaks through the shades in the morning, Wendy will ask me what I want to do today. I already know the answer. “Whatever you want to do, honey…whatever you want to do. I’m just happy to be here with you.”
