No More Lines
For 16 years, I spent most of my vacations standing in lines. For water slides. For cotton candy. For everything.
On my last vacation, I queued up three hours for a roller coaster I didn’t really want to ride. At least it gave me time to think. Because that’s when I realized it: John and I deserve some fun on our vacation, too.
When we got home, I started planning for today. Now we’re here. This is the vacation I’ve dreamed about. We’re holding hands. We’re talking. John even laughed today. I mean, really laughed. And we haven’t stood in a single line yet. Of course, there are only about 100 people on this entire island.
Before we were mom and dad, we were two people in love. And we were fun people, too! Thanks to a perfect ratio of sun and sand, we’ve remembered that. We’re still in love - that’s why we make the sacrifices we make. All year long, we do a great job of chasing after our kids. But this week, the only thing we’re chasing is our dreams.
